Well today brought a surprise. There was a messenger waiting for me in the courtyard who intercepted me while I was on my way to teach my class on ‘Aberrations, Oozes and Magical beasts’. This was no Orien messenger though, not even one of the new Vadalis creatures trying to compete with them. He claimed to be from some group called the Dark Lanterns and said they had urgent need for my expertise. Well with an ego rubbing like that it was only fair I heard them out. I met one of their representatives in the Lamb Shank tavern who then proceeded asked me what I knew of the murders in Dura. Well not more than what has been reported in that rag the Inquisitor, suffice to say they knew more if not a lot more. It seems to be some unidentified creature and since Morgrave University is home to the most prominent scholars in Sharn, and I am the foremost expert on creatures that don’t fit into the category of natural, they came to me for my expert knowledge. How can I say no? It is probably just some creature that has crawled up from the depths of the cogs, some people even say they reach to Khyber but even so I have a feeling there is more to this than mere random monster attacks. I’m sure they know more than they are letting on but such is the way of these organisations.
