+THE STORY SO FAR......
+Westcrown, once the capital of Cheliax, lost much of its affluence and prestige after the second coming of the God, Aroden, failed to happen.
+The characters are all inhabitants of the city. They have all individually encountered a woman named Janiven who has invited them to a meeting at Vizio's Tavern. The tavern has been disused for some time, and the windows are boarded up and the doors are locked.
+Emerit arrives early and attempts to use his nascent stealth skills to secretly gain acces to the Tavern, Janiven greets him, and cheerfully offers him some beer to keep him going till the others arrive. Janiven is an attractive woman, but wears rough clothing and armour and carries weapons. She continues cooking dinner. He takes his beer and finds a shadowy corner of the tavern to lurk in. On arrival, Iereneic and Horst fail to notice him in the shadows, but Minthe spots him and gives him a cheery wave. Admittedly Horst has a strange vacant look in his eyes, maybe Minthe has charmed him.
+Janiven serves them up a simple but nutritious dinner, and there is some discussion is held on the origin and nature of shadowbeasts, strange creatures that terrorise the streets after dark.
+After dinner Janiven explains that she has selected the characters to join an organisation to protect the ordinary citizens of Westcrown. Once she gets going she launches into an empassioned speech denouncing the current rulers of Westcrown, some of which could easily be treasonable.
+A discussion about the practacality of Janiven's ideas begins but is rapidly cut short by a pounding at the door. Janiven admits a small boy, Morosino, who reports that Arael, an associate of Janiven's has been captured by the Hellknights of the Order of the Rack (Westcrowns unofficial anti-rebellion force). Unfortunately, he has been allowed to escape and has unwittingly led the Hellknights to the tavern. No fewer than 6 hellknights and a dozen of their deputies (Armigers), turn up uninvited, and start banging on the door. Janiven, directs the party via a secret door which opens into Westcrown's ancient and impressive sewer system. She barricades the doors and leaves a tanglefoot bag behind for good measure. She rejoins the characters in the Sewers, and shares out a generous supply of healing potions from a hidden cache.
+The party has little chance to marvel at the Glories of Westcrown's sewers, as they flee the pursuing Hellknights. They encounter a squad of Armigers who have been sent there to block their escape. A battle takes place, much of it with missile weapons, The Armigers are ultimately defeated but Iereneic is wounded and needs to be revived with a healing potion. The battle has delayed them, however and the rest of the Hellknights are now hot on their heels ..................
